Whats MOfina?

We are a mental wellness and education company focused on helping humans maintain their wellness and thrive. We are at the intersection of spiritual, emotional, physical, and community care. We offer consulting, workshops, retreats, and public speaking services for organizations and the community. We make understanding mental wellness easy and approachable.

Meet Our Founder

Dr. Madeline Ofina

Hola, I’m Dr. Madeline Ofina! I founded MOfina understanding that healing is a process that is personal, profound, spiritual, and supported by the community. I have studied clinical psychology and am a student learning Inca earth medicine. I am passionate about a few things, social justice, spirituality, decolonizing our mental health care, combating mental health stigma, and providing both accurate and approachable education for the community.

Our Story

MOfina is built from the understanding that people at their core are connected to each other and the nature that surrounds them. MOfina was founded by community educator and speaker Dr. Madeline Ofina , who found a need for spaces at the intersection of mind, body, spirit, land, and community.

Dr. Madeline Ofina started studying a decolonial approach to mental health which included the process of unlearning, healing, and discovering ways to drive healing that acknowledges the impacts of oppressive systems and white supremacy on BIPOC communities. MOfina was born out of the desire to help others find alignment and do the personal work to find their way back to themselves and their community. We strive to embrace the continual process of unlearning ways in which we ignore our needs and reclaim our connection to our roots.

How we differ.

MOfina is at the intersection of mind, body, spirit, land, and community. We seek to support through education, workshops, retreats, and public speaking. We are not interested in a one size fits all approach, nor do we ignore the impact of systemic oppression, stigma, racism, capitalism, sexism, and spiritual bypassing on our community. Our services are developed with the community in mind, knowing that we can provide the information, but healing happens in community spaces. With this in mind, we offer services that cater to both the individual and the community that supports them (family, friends, neighbors, co-workers, and more). Please keep in mind that we do not offer psychotherapy services or clinical advice.

Healing is a profoundly messy, spiritual, and beautiful process. Embrace it and know that this journey will take you places you'd never expect.

Honoring My Spiritual Teachers

Master Don Alejandro Apaza, Justino Apaza, and Marquesa Apaza from The Inca Medicine School is an association of Inca shamans from Peru, founded by Paqo shaman Alejandro Apasa. I am currently on the Inca path learning shamanic traditions from the Q’ero in the Apaza lineage.

Marilu Shinn of Kawak Peruvian Energy Medicine from whom I learned ancient earth medicine that was passed to her by the Laika peoples of the high Andes. She is an initiated carrier of the Mesa lineage. Working with Marilu and my fellow medicine women helped me become who I am today.

“Dra. Rocío Rosales Meza, is a Xicana/Mexicana Indigenous women in diaspora. She is a Seer, initiated medicine woman in the Q’ero Inca lineage, & is a Counseling Psychology Ph.D. She is also an unschooling mama to a 5 year old child who holds supernatural gifts. Dra. Rocio’s work is at the intersections of decolonizing, spirituality, and wellness.”(Quote from her website). I was a member of her decolonial healing collective and decolonizing alchemy.

The Sisters of the Shamrock, three Energy/light workers. Cherie, Crystal, and Debby, Certified Reiki Masters, Psychic, Mediums, and Teachers. I have worked with the Sisters of the Shamrock in honing my intuition through a learning circle.

Other teachers I have learned from through presentations, classes, and discussions:

Lánésáan Moonwalker – Yoreme Elder, Louis Te Kouorehua Kereopa (Matua) – Maori Elder, & Grandmother Flordemayo – founding member of the Confederation of Indigenous Elders of America
